Confessions of a British spy

PART 4B

I established a very intimate friendship with Muhammad bin Abd-ul-wahhab of Najd. I launched a campaign of praising him everywhere. One day I said to him:

"You are greater than 'Umar and 'Ali. If the Prophet were alive now, he would appoint you as his Khalifa instead of them. I expect that Islam will be renovated and improved in your hands. You are the only scholar who will spread Islam all over the world."

Muhammad the son of Abd-ul-wahhab and I decided to make a new interpretation of the Qur'an; this new interpretation was to reflect only our points of view and would be entirely contrary to those explanations made by the Sahaba, by the imams of Madhhabs and by the mufassirs (learned scholars specialized in the explanation of the Qur'an). We were reading the Qur'an and talking on some of the ayats. My purpose in doing this was to mislead Muhammad. After all, he was trying to present himself as a revolutionist and would therefore accept my views and ideas with pleasure so that I should trust him all the more.

[This is exactly one of the reasons why Allah the Almighty, appointed twelve Infallible and gifted persons to teach the profound and True interpretations of the Word of Allah, so that the likes of Hempher and the son of Abd-ul-wahhab would not distort the Religion of Allah which is the only way to attain everlasting Salvation.]

On one occasion I said to him, "Jihad (fighting, struggling for Islam) is not fard."

He protested, "Why shouldn't it be despite Allah's commandment, 'Make war against unbelievers.'?"

I said, "Then why didn't the Prophet make war against the munafiqs [those who pretend to believe, the hypocrites] despite Allah's commandment, 'Make Jihad against unbelievers and munafiqs.'?"

He said, "The Prophet made Jihad against them with his speech."

I said, "Is the Jihad which is fard (commanded), the one which is to be done with one's speech?"

He said, "Rasulullah made war against the unbelievers."

I said, "The Prophet made war against the unbelievers in order to defend himself. For the unbelievers intended to kill him."

He nodded.

[Every act of an Infallible One is the exact Wish of Allah the Almighty; this is exactly the difference between a Chosen Infallible and a fallible. In the lives of the Prophets and the Imams (PBUT), we observe that in some cases wars were made, and in other instances, not; questioning a Chosen One's decision, is actually questioning Allah's Wish.]

At another time I said to him, "Mut'a nikah is permissible."

He objected, "No, it is not."

I said, "Allah declares, In return for the use you make of them, give them the mahr you have decided upon'."

He said, "'Umar prohibited two examples of mut'a practice existent in his time and said he would punish anyone who practiced it."

I said, "You both say that you are superior to 'Umar and follow him. In addition, 'Umar said he prohibited it though he knew that the Prophet had permitted it. Why do you leave aside the Prophet's word and obey 'Umar's word?"

[It would be wonderful if we were living in a perfect world in which every one was very pious and perfect where no wrong would ever be committed or no wrong interpretation would ever be derived from a right, but we are not in heaven, rather we are in this imperfect world which is the arena for learning, and for faiths and sincerities to be tested and tried; for instance, it would be great if no murder was ever committed, but a perfect law must have provisions to protect the rights of all parties involved when transgressions are committed, in stead of totally ignoring the issues.

While Islam emphasizes on permanent marriages and establishment of families, but for many realistic reasons, such as protecting the rights of all, especially women and even unborn children, and …, it allows Mut'a nikah -temporary marriage- (Qur'an 4:24); just in England alone, every year in the beginning of the 21st century A.D., the fathers of over 25% of children being born, have been unknown, even to their own mothers!!! Who will answer to these children, being born out of sin?! And not knowing who their fathers are, some day they may grow up and unknowingly marry their own brothers and sisters, and …!!! And this is only one reason of many, for such provisions in a perfect law … . The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) based on Qur'an, had declared this law, but 'Umar later disobeyed the direct command of Qur'an and the Prophet (PBUH&HP), and declared otherwise; for more information in this regard, one may refer to the book 'A-Nnass-O Wal-Ijtihad' by Allaamah Sharaf-O-Ddeen in which all such disobediences and Ijtihads against the direct commands of Allah and the Prophet (PBUH&HP) have been documented and discussed; let us not forget that disobedience of Qur'an and the Prophet, is tantamount to disbelieving. History verifies that as one consequence of 'Umar's decree, many illegitimate children were sinfully born. If one realizes the seriousness of committing a sin, he would never take the matter so lightly; ironically the Prophet Jesus (PBUH) -whose so-called followers have become wrongfully, so relaxed regarding committing sins- has metaphorically, expressed the seriousness of committing sins as follows:

Bible, Matthew 5:29&30 'And if thy right eye offend thee pluck it out, and cast it from thee; for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee, for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.'

Matthew 18:7-9 'Woe unto the world because of offences! For it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! Wherefore if thine hand or feet offend thee, cut them off. It is better to enter into life halt or maimed rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire!'

We also cordially invite you to read the article: "Relationships" in the site kindfather.com. Let us not forget that it is always possible that any law may be misused and misrepresented, but that itself is a test of people's faith, after all Allah is Ever-Watching.]
