We are about to narrate a glorious event, another heart-worming indication of Ali's superiority and purity... . Ever sine the Prophet (PBUH&HP) had started his heavenly invitation in Mecca, the dark-hearted polytheist oppressors -who were afraid of losing their worldly position- planned against him. The Almighty informed His beloved Prophet of an ongoing satanic plot in which each of the different tribes of polytheists were to choose one man and then these men were to enter the Prophet's home in the middle of the night of Rabi' the first and kill the loving Prophet of Allah. One of the masterminds of this satanic plan was Abu-Sofyaan. The Prophet told Ali about this plan and Ali with all his heart and soul volunteer to sleep in the Prophet's place so that the Prophet would have the time and opportunity to leave Mecca for Medina and so did the Prophet... . In the middle of the night, those heartless unbelievers entered the holy Prophet's home and to their surprise, the Prophet was not there and Ali was sleeping in his place... . This night is known as the “Laylat-Ol-Mabit”. Ali (PBUH) was the clearest and purest manifestation of sincerity and love; Ali bounteously and generously offered all he had in the cause of Allah and His Prophet. To Ali, nothing mattered more than God -the Lord and Creator of existence-; to Ali, offering his life -which belonged to God- was the least he could do; to Ali, being a servant of Allah meant loving and obeying His most beloved Prophet; to Ali, ... . It is no wonder that God loves Ali so much; the following Qur'anic verse was revealed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&HP) in praising Ali's action on that ever-remembered Laylat-Ol-Mabit:

And among men is he who gives his life to seek the Pleased-ness of Allah and Allah is most kind to his servants.

(Qur'an, Surah Baqarah, verse 207)
