Hesham son of Abd-Ol-Malek (an Abbasi ruler) summoned Imam Baaqer (PBUH) to his Palace, he condemned and denounced the Imam, extermly and commanded the courtiers to do the same and surpass all limits in denouncing Imam Baaqer (PBUH).
When Hesham started the imputations, all the courtiers followed him and exceeded all boundaries.
Imam Baaqer (PBUH) stood up and responded:
O' people behold! where are you going? Where are you being taken to? Allah has guided the first of you by us and shall end the last of you by us, if yours is the transient government, the lasting government shall be ours and there shall not be a government after ours; we (the Ahl-Ol-Bait) shall be of the last days, as Allah has said:
... and the end shall be for the pious.
(Qur'an, Surah Aaraaf, verse 128)
Heshaam commanded that Imam Baaqer to be sent to prison. When they imprisoned the Imam, prisoners were astonished by the Imam's boundless Knowledge, strong faith, eloquent and powerful, piety, virtues and his other salient characteristics. When the high popularity and the effectiveness of his words among the prisoners were reported to Heshaam, he ordered to release the Imam and sent him to Medina before he could contact with people and impress their hearts and souls ... .
All the previous Prophets and Imams (PBUT) always gave the good news that some day at The End of time, the government of Allah shall rule the entire earth; let us sincerely strive and pray for the wonderful day of Mahdi's Appearance... .
