4) Superiority of Mohammad and Aal of Mohammad (SBUT)

Ibn Baabway has narrated from Imam Saadeq (SBUH) that he (SBUH) said that a Yahoodi (jewish) man went to the Prophet Mohammad (SBUH&HA), stood in front of him and stared at him. The Prophet (SBUH&HA) asked him what he wanted. He then asked the Prophet (SBUH&HA) whether he was more superior or Moosa son of ‘Emraan (SBUT), whom Allah spoke to, and sent the Torah to, and parted the sea for, and whom the clouds cast their shadow upon, and the rod in his hand became like a snake?

The Prophet Mohammad (SBUH&HA) mentioned that it was not proper for a servant of Allah to admire himself but it was necessary and incumbent upon him to know the Prophet of the Last Days. Then he (SBUH&HA) told him that when Aadam (Adam) made a mistake, he repented to Allah with these words: O Allah! I surely ask You by the Haq (Rightfulness, Truth, …) of Mohammad and Aal of Mohammad to forgive me; and Allah forgave him. And when the Prophet Nooh (Noah) got on board the ark and was worried that the ark might drown, he said: O Allah! I surely ask you by the Haq of Mohammad and Aal of Mohammad to save me from drowning; and Allah saved his ark from drowning. And when the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) was thrown in the fire [by Namrood], he said: O Allah! I surely ask you by the Haq of Mohammad and Aal of Mohammad to save me from it; and Allah turned the fire cold and a matter of blessing for him. And when the Prophet Moosa (Moses) threw his rod and was afraid, he said: O Allah! I surely ask You by the Haq of Mohammad and Aal of Mohammad to grant me safety; and Allah told him not to be afraid for he was rightful.

The Prophet (SBUH&HA) continued and told that Yahoodi that if Moosa had been in his (the Prophet Mohammad’s) time and did not believe in his Prophethood, then his (moosa’s) belief would not do him any good and his being a Prophet would not benefit him.

Then the Prophet Mohammad (SBUH&HA) said to that Yahoodi that one of his (Mohammad’s) descendants was Mahdi that when he would Emerge, the Prophet ‘Eesa (Jesus) would descend for his assistance, and he (‘Eesa) would put him ahead and would stand behind him to perform Prayer.
