‘Ali (SBUH), the Aayat al-Kobraa and the Naba’ al-‘Azim

In previous writings of this site kindfather.com, such as in part 14 of “Names of Mohammad and ‘Ali (SBUT) in the Bible” (also as a chapter of the E-book “Names and characteristics of Mohammad, ‘Ali, … and Mahdi (SBUT) in Jewish, Christian and Islamic documents”), we presented Dr. Thomas McElwain’s precise arguments regarding a special occurrence of the blessed name ‘Ali in the current book of Exodus of the so called old testament or Torah of the Bible; the biblical language specialist proved that the correct translation of statement 9 of chapter 8 of the book of Exodus is:

Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glorify ‘Ali: when shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses, that they may remain in the river only?

The Majid Qur’an confirms that Allah afflicted Pher’awn and his people “And certainly We overtook people of Pher’awn with droughts and diminution of fruits that they may be mindful.” But they did not believe “Therefore We sent upon them widespread deaths, and the locusts and the lice and the frogs and the blood, clear Signs; but they behaved haughtily and they were a guilty people.” (Qur’an 7:130-133)

Thus, as confirmed by the Majestic Qur’an, one of their afflictions was the affliction of the frogs which had spread everywhere … so in Exodus 8:9 Hazrat Moosa (SBUH) told Pher’awn to glorify Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH) whom he obviously knew very well, so that the afflictions may be lifted from them.

Dr. McElwain says in this regard: “Moses (as) invoked the name of ‘Ali (as) in speaking to the Pharaoh.”

So Exodus 8:9 is indeed a biblical remnant (after and in the midst of distortions, omissions, concealments and …) of an undeniable glorious fact; the everlasting fact that the Prophets of Allah (SBUT), their followers and even their enemies were quite aware of God-Bestowed lofty status of Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH); they knew that Hazrat Ali’s (SBUH) glorification has always been and will always be, from creation to eternity, the celestial key for Inshaa’Allah opening all closed doors …

In addition, in certain writings of this site, such as  “Wilayat of Mohammad and the AhlulBayt (SBUT), from creation to eternity” (also as a chapter of the E-book “Ghadir: Declaration of the Truth, from creation to eternity”), authentic Hadiths have been presented in regard to the glorious fact that the Prophet Moosa (SBUH) performed miracles by imploring Allah in the Names of the Prophet Mohammad and the AhlulBayt (SBUT), asking the children of Israel to glorify them (SBUT) …

But … how exactly did Hazrat Moosa –Moses- (SBUH) introduced, the Prophet Mohammad and the AhlulBayt (SBUT), and in this regard Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH), to the Pher’awn, Allah knows best … was it just by invoking their names … was it through performing miracles by imploring Allah in their names … or … Allah Knows best …

In any case … the following is quite thought-provoking … yet another indication of the Allah-Bestowed magnificence of Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH):

Let us remember that one of the very special titles of Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH) is THE AAYAT AL-KOBRAA, THE MIGHTY SIGN … we read in the Iftitah Supplication- which, during the Minor Occultation, was taught by Hazrat Mahdi (SBUH) to Mohammad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Sa’eed, one of Hazrat’s four Nowwaab (appointed successive agents and deputies) and is recommended to be specially recited in the nights of the blessed month of Ramadan- that indeed Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH) is THE AAYAT AL-KOBRAA -THE MIGHTY SIGN-:

… O Allah, (please do) send blessings to ‘Ali, the Amir (Commander) of the Mo’menin (Believers);

and the Wasi (Successor, Executor) of the Rasool (Messenger) of the Rab (Lord) of the worlds;

Your servant, Your Wali (Chosen Lord over creations), the brother of Your Rasool; 

And Your Hojjat (Proof and decisive argument) over Your creations; 

And Your MIGHTY SIGN (AAYAT AL-KOBRAA) وَ آيَتِكَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ  

And THE GRAND NEWS AND PROPHECY (AL-NABA’ AL-‘AZIM) وَ النَّبَأَ الْعَظِيمِ

(eqbaal al-a’maal of Sayyed ibn Tawoos; Zaad al-Ma’aad of ‘Allaamah Majlisi; Mafaatih al-Janaan of Shaikh ‘Abbaas Qommi; Mesbaah of Kaf’ami; …)

According to the Majid Qur’an, Verses 15 to 21 of Surah al-Naaze’aat (79), Allah SWT sent Hazrat Moosa (SBUH) to the Pher’awn to ask him if he wished to be cleansed; Hazrat Moosa (SBUH) told Pher’awn that he would guide him, then according to Verse 20 Moosa (SBUH) showed him THE AAYAT AL-KOBRAA …

فَأَرَاهُ الْآيَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ 20

Qur’an 79:20 So he showed him THE MIGHTY SIGN.

Qur’an 79:21 But he rejected and disobeyed.

Whether that which has been remained in the above mentioned statement of the book of Exodus in regard to glorification of Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH) is a small indication of what the Qur’an has mentioned in this Verse regarding Hazrat Moosa (SBUH) showing Pher’awn THE AAYAT AL-KOBRAA … Allah Knows best …

Here we wish to point out that THE AAYAT AL-KOBRAA, THE MIGHTY SIGN, had to be some thing much greater than just turning the cane to a snake, to be called AL-AAYAT AL-KOBRAA …

Also, in the previously mentioned article “Names of Mohammad and ‘Ali (SBUT) in the Bible” specially in parts 12, 16, 18 and 19 we looked at instances of some sort of miraculous assistance and presence of Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH) with the Prophets (SBUT) … we cordially invite our friends to study all parts of this article …

Let us look at a few more enlivening Verses and Hadiths:

لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَىٰ 18

Qur’an 53:18 For truly did he see, from the AAYAAT (SIGNS) of his Lord, AL-KOBRAA (THE MIGHTY).

This Verse is in regard to the time when Hazrat Mohammad (SAWA), THE GREATEST CREATION OF ALLAH, was taken to Me’raaj, and about things he (SAWA) was shown by Allah … a MIGHTY (AL-KOBRAA) SIGN was one of the things the Prophet (SAWA) was shown …

The Prophet Mohammad (SAWA) told Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH) that indeed Allah had made Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH) present in 7 positions and places with Hazrat Mohammad (SAWA) and that one of those places was the Night of Me’raaj (Ascension) when Hazrat Muhammad (SAWA) was taken to Heavens. (Tafsir Qommi, vol. 2, p. 335; …)

Also it has been narrated from Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH) himself who has said that he (SBUH) is THE MIGHTIEST SIGN … (Kaafi of Shaikh Kolayni, vol. 1; …)

It is also noteworthy to mention that it has been narrated that Hazrat Muhammad (SAWA) has asserted that AL-NABA’ AL-‘AZIM, is the Wilayat of ‘Ali, the one and only Amir al-Mo’menin, (SBUH) regarding which all people will be asked in the Grave; and that, there is no deceased in the east and the west of the world unless he/she will be questioned in the Grave in regard to his/her deity (whether the person worshipped Allah), his/her Prophet (whether the Prophets of Allah were obeyed by the person) and the Wilayat of Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUT); and that, bliss is for those who will confess to his Wilayat, and misery for those who will deny … (Tafsir Manhaj al-Sadiqin of Mulla Kashani, vol. 10, p. 125-126; …)

In another Hadith it has been narrated that Hazrat Mohammad (SAWA) has asserted that Hazrat ‘Ali (SBUH) is the Hojjat of Allah, the Path toward (Pleasedness of) Allah, al-Naba’ al-‘Azim and the Seraat Mostaqim … (‘Oyoon al-Akhbaar of Shaikh Sadooq, vol. 2, p. 6; …)
